Why is Instructional Design Crucial for eLearning?
Instructional design is a critical aspect of eLearning, as it creates engaging and effective learning experiences for all learners. Without it, eLearning would be just text on a screen.

Hi Abigail! Thank you for reaching out! I would be happy to chat with you about my experience in the field. I started my journey as an instructional designer by taking courses and getting my master’s degree in instructional design. This program provided me with a solid foundation in instructional design principles and best practices, which have been invaluable as I've built my career in this field. The eLearning & Instructional Design for Beginners Community lays out everything I learned in the program and as I built my career.
One of the challenges I faced was building a strong portfolio that showcased my skills and abilities as an instructional designer. It took some time and effort, but I was able to create a portfolio that highlighted my strengths and accomplishments and tailored it to the types of jobs I was interested in.
Networking has also been key to my success as an instructional designer. LinkedIn groups and the eLearning & Instructional Design for Beginners Community are great ways to connect with other professionals in the field and gain insight and advice. This will also help you stay up-to-date on industry trends and connect with other professionals.
I hope this information is helpful for you as you work towards becoming an instructional designer. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or if you'd like to chat more about my experience. Best of luck to you on your journey!

Importance of Instructional Design Models in eLearning
Instructional design models are super important for eLearning because they help us create courses that are engaging and effective.
They provide a framework for organizing course content, defining learning objectives, and incorporating different types of media and activities into the course to make the learning experience as enjoyable as possible.
Without an instructional design model, eLearning courses can seem a bit scattered and confusing. But, with the use of one, we can make sure that everything is organized in a logical and systematic way, making it easier for you to follow along and retain the information being presented.
Instructional design models also give us guidance on how to incorporate different types of media and activities into the course to make it more interesting and engaging for you. Think videos, interactive quizzes, and other types of multimedia!
There are many instructional design models out there but two of the most popular ones are the ADDIE and SAM models. Both models help us develop courses in a way that ensures they are well-designed, effective, and engaging.
